Dear Parent,
First of all, thank you for choosing the Raistl Academy for VCE Physics tutoring. My students and I have been working hard throughout this year to improve our understanding of physics, and how to convert this understanding into results. I am pleased to say that we have been able raise average results by a staggering 35% over the last 2 years.
I would like to offer a few tips to help your child improve:
- I ask my students every year if their school teaches them ‘how to study’, and the answer is overwhelmingly NO! Therefore, every week, I have decided to add 1 ‘how to study tip’ to my lessons. You can help by buying a book on how to study. There are so many out there, and I was lucky enough to come across one when I was at high-school.
- Read textbooks to your children – Sit down with your child once or twice a week and just read their physics textbook to him/her. There is no need for you to understand anything – and I am here for any questions. This gives students a different perspective and repeats what they have learnt at school and class. Repetition solidifies memory.
- Ensure they do checkpoints questions – These books contain excellent exam-style questions and encourage students to think laterally. The difference in grades between students who do these practice questions, and those who don’t (within my academy) are remarkable!
- Tell students to switch on their webcams – This way I can see when they lose focus or if they are struggling to understand what I am saying.
If you have any suggestions and comments on how I can help your child improve, please let me know!
Kind regards,
Lasi/ Dan
